Zwarte Po�zie is a New Wave band from The Netherlands blending sharp alternative rock inspired guitar sounds with drummachines, synths and Dutch vocals. In its initial band formation with drums and bass guitar the first album �Liefde� was released. After this singer/guitarist Edwin van der Velde shifted the band towards the current more electronic sound. The first studio record after this switch was the EP 'NDW' on which Zwarte Po�zie recorded some known and unknown Neue Deutsche Welle covers in Dutch. After this Zwarte Po�zie in 2016 re-recorded the EP �Grijs Verleden� (originally 2007) with their classics �Zwarte Ramen� and �Grijs Verleden�, but now fitting the new electronic Zwarte Po�zie sound. After a break in which Van der Velde worked on two albums for his other project Bragolin, in 2021 Zwarte Po�zie returns with a new album 'Zelfportret'. It contains a mix of New Wave guitar songs in which Zwarte Po�zie continues the line of the previous releases. On songs like 'Grafveld B', title track 'Zelfportret' and 'Stockholm' the known guitar sound of Zwarte Po�zie is back. The lyrics on the album address personal themes from the life of Van der Velde in his 30s, a world of parties and wanting to forget, for which the title Zelfportret (Self-Portrait) is fitting. In addition to guitars, the album also has room for a new sound with an emphasis on synthesizers, such as the Italo inspired 'Fiasco', the dreamy 'Dans De Vage Blik' and 'Pijnstiller'. Since the release Zwarte Po�zie is ready to pick up doing concerts again. Live synth player Edwin Daatselaar, who joined Zwarte Po�zie in 2016 and Edwin van der Velde are ready when the world lets it amid the current pandemic.
