Meta Description
I made this site back in 1998 when there were only two and a half million websites in the world. I was fired-up after reading articles in Wired about how sites should be fast-loading and simple. I didn't have a digital camera so I went through all the bits of paper I had collected and found some bits that went together and some that I just liked. I scanned them, made them as small as seemed reasonable and then wrote the code in bbedit. The navigation buttons are life-sized scans of a load of magnetic labels I 'found' in the old World Service control room when it moved to a new location. They refer to different colour coded broadcast networks; GNO is Green, the english network, BNO is brown, the Arabic service. Some of the labels are studio sources, like S36 Outside Source 1. I still have some labels left so I keep adding to the site but I try to change the existing structure as little as possible.

Don't just check uptime once — watch it 24/7

This is a one-time check. Turn on monitoring and we'll watch the domains that matter to you continuously, notifying you the moment anything moves across all three signals:

Uptime

We visit the site from multiple regions worldwide and email you within minutes if it goes down, with a per-region breakdown so a real outage stands out from a regional blip.

DNS changes

We watch NS, MX, CAA, DNSSEC, CNAME and A/AAAA records, and identify the host, network, and ASN behind them, so a real migration or hijack stands out from routine noise.

TLS certificate

We warn you 30, 14, 7, and 1 days before it expires, and flag it if the issuing authority changes or the certificate is unexpectedly replaced.

Monitor uptime free

Free for your first domain: uptime, DNS, and certificate together. No credit card.
