Mübadelenin ilk yıllarında köyün ileri gelenleri tarafından yönetilen Şirince Belediyesi 1941 yılında kapatılıyor. Bu süre zarfında Kuşadası’na bağlıdır Şirince. 1941 yılında kapatılan Şirince Belediyesi’nin son başkanı ise Zihni Özen idi. Şirince’den Selçuk’a yerleşmeye başlayan köylüler ve çevredeki yörük nüfus günümüz Efes Selçuk’unu oluşturdular. 1 Ocak 1943 itibariyle Kuşadası’na bağlı Selçuk Belediyesi kurularak ilk başkanı bağımsız aday Ahmet Sabri Yayla oldu. 1946 Rıfat Baran CHP den belediye başkanı seçiliyor. 1948 Ahmet Sabri Aktepe CHP (Bugün istasyon meydanı olan yerde ilk belediye binası yapıldı), 1950 Ahmet Necati Ferahlı Demokrat Parti, 1950 ve 1960 arası göreve yetersizlik uygulaması ile belediye başkanlığı görevi sürekli el değiştirdi.
