Școala Gimnazială Nr. 2 Cernavodă a fost înființată între anii 1958 – 1960 și este situată pe strada Mihail Sadoveanu, numărul 9. Inițial a funcționat într-un spațiu impropriu, în barăci, până la finalizarea clădirii, în care își desfășoară activitatea și în prezent. În anul 1961 a fost construită sala de sport. Primul director al școlii a fost profesorul Ion Dobrescu, care a ocupat această funcție în perioada 1958-1961, fiind urmat de profesorul de matematică Ion Jugănaru între anii 1961 și 1980. Din 1980 până în 1988, funcția de director a fost ocupată de profesoara de geografie Margareta Cismașu , iar între anii 1988 și 2012 de către profesoara de matematică Ștefana Năstase. Din anul 2012 până în prezent profesoara de matematică Arabela-Adriana Brînză conduce această instituție de învățământ. Școala include în structura sa și Grădinița cu program normal "Prichindel" Cernavodă, începând cu data de 1 septembrie 2012.
