Dusan Milenkovic & the magnificent 7 : Dušan Milenković

Dušan Milenković - Drummer, Educator, Author - was born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1979. Dušan got his first drum set from his brother Vladimir when he was 14 years old and began studying with Vukašin Veljković. He made his professional debut at the age of sixteen working around Belgrade with some local bands. Dušan was practicing six to eight hours daily and didn’t go anywhere without drumsticks in his pocket beating out rhythms on any available surface. His early influences were Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Lewis Nash, Steve Smith and Vinnie Colaiuta. Dušan entered the Vienna jazz scene in 2005 after touring as a sideman for successful blues, rock and cover bands. After a brief gig in one of the jazz clubs, he became the “second call” jazz drummer in Vienna, working with many different musicians around the town. Since 2006, Dušan Milenković has been on the faculty of Performing Arts at Vienna International School as a drumming teacher for jazz and popular music. Most recently, he has collaborated with Vienna International School as an Artist in Residence where he has founded and directs his Percussion Ensemble.
