Amr Ramadan - A Data Lover
Meta Description
My name is Amr Ramadan, and I'm a reservoir engineer, data scientist and software engineer. I've been working in the energy industry for over 10 years, focusing on reservoir engineering, hydraulic fracturing, geothermal energy, and AI. Over the years, I've been fortunate to work across a wide spectrum of energy engineering disciplines, each adding a new layer to my expertise and deepening my understanding of subsurface systems. I started with a strong foundation in reservoir engineering, where I learned to interpret pressure and production data to forecast performance and make critical decisions about field development. Through hands-on simulation work, decline curve analysis, and rate transient interpretation, I developed a deep appreciation for the dynamic behavior of reservoirs and the power of data-driven modeling. As I moved deeper into the field, hydraulic fracturing became a core focus. I wasn't just designing treatments—I was diagnosing them. This naturally led me to geothermal energy, particularly Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). The combination of data science and reservoir physics in such a challenging thermal environment helped shape my perspective on the future of sustainable energy. With this growing complexity came a need for more automation and intelligence. That's when I immersed myself in AI and machine learning. I built deep learning models to detect hydraulic fracture propagation, predict inter-well connectivity, and forecast well production using Transformer architectures. I used Python, PyTorch, and TensorFlow to turn raw, messy data into accurate, high-impact predictions. But great models mean little if they're not actionable. So I became deeply involved in data science and visualization, developing dashboards in Tableau and Spotfire, automating pipelines with SQL and Python, and ensuring that engineers and executives could interact with complex insights in meaningful ways. To bring it all together, I leaned into software development. I built full-stack applications, created simulation management tools, deployed ML models with Containerization and CI/CD pipelines, and developed systems that not only analyzed data—but acted on it. Each of these roles didn't just teach me new tools—they changed how I think about energy, engineering, and innovation. My journey has been one of integration: combining physics, data, code, and creativity to solve real-world subsurface challenges.
