October 10 in 2020, the first World watchmaking day? - Watch Passports by JSH®
Meta Description
The idea of an ‘International Swiss Watch Day’, also known as ‘World Watch Day’, came from Joël A. Grandjean, an independent watch journalist and founder and president of ‘Prowatch Culture & Savoirs Horlogers Suisses’. He is also the editor of JSH (Since 1876) and Swiss Watch Passport, and on 10 October 2020 at 10:10 a.m., he published an article launching this idea with ‘high media added value’. It is said that a watch smiles when its hands are at 10:10. Originally, the public relations firm @TRP, The Right Place, was appointed to manage international communications for this event inspired by the Fête de la Musique. Then, Le Figaro relaunched the idea in 2022. Finally, in April 2025, during the Watches & Wonders trade fair, a dozen players in the sector joined forces and called for the official launch of this day.
